Environmental Education Intern/Assistant Teacher-Naturalist
Date: 4-9 weeks, Summer 2008
Location: Nature Day Camps operated by The Roving Nature Center throughout eastern Pennsylvania and central New Jersey. Housing is not provided.
Qualifications
Appropriate majors include elementary education, outdoor education; biological, and the environmental sciences . Desire to both gain and apply knowledge, skills, and experience in working with children ages 4-9. Available to attend Staff Training and work all days of employment period.

Job Description
The Assistant Teacher-Naturalist represents The Roving Nature Center at all times while on duty. Responsibilities include:
- Attendance at all RNC orientation and professional training sessions, and home study of lesson materials.
- Assisting the Teacher-Naturalist in preparation of materials and readiness for teaching from supplied lesson plan; assistance in conducting daily activities.
- With Teacher-Naturalist, securing of enrollee's registration forms from RNC or Host office before course sessions begin; familiarity with any special requirements or conditions of students.
- Proper care of all equipment and supplies; their return in clean, usable, and original condition, except for normal wear and tear.
- Assistance with publicity for Nature Day Camps in assigned areas, such as distribution of posters, brochures, etc.
- Proper stewardship of day camp site resources and facilities used. Adherence to any and all park-established rules.
- Evaluation of courses taught, including daily activities, student response, and suggestions for future improvement.
Wages: $9..00 per hour; 6-hour day; 5-day week
